How much blood does an overweight person have compared to others?
It is common knowledge that being overweight is unhealthy. According to Braintainment (26/2015), a heavier person will have 1% more blood per kilogram of weight. Fat needs less blood than muscles or organs, but it still needs new veins and capillaries to ‘feed’. Now imagine what that strain does to one’s heart?!
Some other statistics and information offered by Braintainment (26/2015):
- South Africa has the highest obesity rate in Sub-Saharan Africa
- 7 out of 10 women and 4 out of 10 men carry more fat than is deemed healthy
- A study of 70% of overweight South African women revealed that 42% were obese
- The word ‘junk food’ was first used by Michael Jacobson in 1972 and referred to food that contains a lot of calories but no nutrition such as protein, vitamins or minerals.
There are so many diets, weight loss programs, calorie counters, trackers and eating plans on the market, that it can create confusion. I tried many of these. The reason that I entered into this business is because I learned so much on my weight loss journey, and have developed a big passion for helping others just like me. When I weighed 160 kg’s, I had given up and just wished to be healthy. After 12 months and having lost 82 kg’s, I could not stop talking about health and how it can be simple (not easy, but definitely simple).
