Did you know that Chuck Norris movies might make you fat?
In a study conducted by researchers from Cornell University, they discovered that we are likely to eat twice as much during an action film versus a talk show. The explanation is that high speed, visual action and loud noises provide more stimulation and distract us more, so we don’t realise how much we are putting in our mouths!
It is also important to note that loud noise not only distracts you while watching movies, which can lead to you eating more, noise also affects healing. Our bodies respond to noise the same way that they respond to stress. It has been found that if we don’t sleep properly, this affects the heart and the risk of ischemic heart disease and hypertension increases. My motto is that true wealth is health! Investment of time and energy into finding ways to be healthy and keeping unnecessary weight off is a priority in my life. Considering that international organisations have assessed the effects of noise and found is to be detrimental supports the notion that this is something that cannot be ignored. The World Health Organisation estimated that noise pollution is responsible for losing one million years of life every year.
So my advice is to make sure you don’t have more food than you need in easy reach while watching action films and especially while watching my favourite: Chuck Norris! Link this to a jolly good night’s sleep in a quiet environment and voila! You have given your body its best chance for improved health and weight loss.
